Australia will bid for the 2023 women's World Cup

The foreign minister has accused Labor of selling out Australia's national interest over a political donation. Julie Bishop says Labor senator Sam Dastyari trashed the ALP's foreign policy after receiving a political donation with links to China.
Paramedics say an apparent prescription drug overdose involving eleven teenagers in a central Queensland town is "concerning and extremely dangerous". Nine teenagers were treated in hospital and have since been released. Police are investigating how and where the group obtained the drugs.
Demand for mining engineers in Western Australia has almost doubled over twelve months signalling an upturn in mining activity. The demand is nowhere near the highs of the boom but is being welcomed after several years of downturn.
And Australia will launch a bid to host the 2023 Women's Soccer World Cup. Prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has pledged up to five million dollars of funding in support of the bid to be run by the Football Federation of Australia. The Matildas are currently ranked ninth in the world.
